Devotion #5

Hi Friend,

This World is full of mess, Am I right?! Everywhere you look there is just stuff. Some good but mostly what we hear is bad. The racial tension that consumes our communities, the political propaganda that lurks in the surrounding and the countless other issues that plague our world. The reality is we can’t change everything but we can be the change we want to see. We can take a stand and we can teach our families to do the same. WE can be the Light in the Dark. WE can also choose what we put on. In this devotional video I talk about what the Bible says in Colossians 3 about putting off the old self and putting on the new self. It is not only encouraging but also challenging. It is hard to know the right things to say and do all the time in this world but I believe here in Colossians we get a clear picture of what Jesus says about how to respond if we are Believers. I hope you feel encouraged and know how deeply you are loved.

Scripture in this Video:

Colossians 3

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your[a] life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.[b] You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all.

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselveswith compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

P.S. the 1st 20 sec have been muted but hold tight the rest of the video works just fine 🙂 Not sure what happened there 🙂 Thanks for the Grace friend!
